The doomsday device is a interesting show because it is a show that takes place wherever you are doing it. In the case of this show it took place in the Westminster student Blackbox theater. This provided us with some interesting opportunities and challenges. Instead of building a comeplete fantasy world we where tasked with taking the room we where in and taking it to a apocoliptic state.
We achieved this in a few different ways, our first way is we took a old cross stage traveler and we tattered it over 3 days we applied 4 different paint colors and a few gallons of water along with some bleach to create a truly tattered effect. We also utilized set pieces from old shows, tarnishing them again with different paints as well as stage dust. We then covered the stage in sand to finalize the apocalyptic world.Â
